Welcome to the web page of the Cruz Mayor Expedition to Papua New Guinea 2008.In this page you will find all the information about the expedition, which has traveled through Papua New Guinea in search of the archaeological discoveries, meeting the most important and most remote tribes of Papua New Guinea and finding what could be the first human groups, discovering the great archaeological and anthropological richness of the area.

The anthropological and archaeological value of the sites and the native tribes found show an incalculable value, therefore one of the main objectives of the Cruz Mayor Expedition to Papua New Guinea 2008 is exactly the conservation of the richness of this area, riddled with tracks of the human history, through the free and costless diffusion of the discoveries achieved.

Skulls Papua New Guinea

We invite you to visit with us the customs of life of the prehistoric man, to observe his cave paintings and to discover the sites of his prehistoric art through out this page.

In the Images section you will be able to see the most astonishing prehistoric paintings done by the native tribes which collected art and trophies; however, in the present days there are still observable samples of prehistoric art of those times, since the customs are still the same. The cave art paintings on stone were, and still are, the common denominator of the tribes' culture in Papua New Guinea. To the present day there are more than 30 photographs published, but soon many more will be published, so that the visitor can admire the anthropological and archaeological richness of the area.

In the sites there can be found from weapons that the prehistoric man used to hunt, built from stone, to trophies and sculls, since these caves of the natives were frequently used as sacred cemeteries.

Of course, we would like to listen to your opinion about the Expedition and the information published about it, so we appreciate any comment or suggestion, whether it is directly in the web page or through the email.
